Ashley, another volunteer & I, left Friday morning from the airport for our flight from California to Chicago. The flight wasn't bad, only 3 hours and the 5 hour layover wasn't even to hard to handle:) In Chicago we met up with the three other volunteers we would fly the rest of the way with.
Me and Ashley in the Chicago airport!
(sorry its so dark)
Next we had our biggy flight! 16 hours from Chicago to New Delhi.
yayy airplane food! (I think this was tofu?)
16 hours later we were finally in New Delhi, India!
When we stepped off the shuttle it ws like stepping into a new world, we passed an open part of the wall in the tunnel connecting the plane to the airport and were hit with a blast of hot air! Next, we took a "shuttle"(old bus) from the international to domestic terminal. There were these military men everywhere checking tickets and passports with their huge guns just hanging over their shoulders, the bus ride also included passing through a spiked gate and by barbed wire topped walls complete with gaurd towers. I think this is when it first hit me how different things are outside of the U.S.

The next layover was 10 hours, our flight didn't leave until 6 the next morning, so we all tried to get comfortable however we could, and crashed on the airport floor with our luggage.
After out wait we hopped onto our Final 2 hour flight from new Delhi to Chennai.
pretty view of the ocean from the plane
First view of Chennai
This post isn't to exciting, but thought I'd share some pictures and let you all know that I'm here safe!
India is beautiful and crazy and different, and I love it, can't wait to see more of it in our tour today!
